Its plaintive song is especially useful for distinguishing it from similar flycatchers.

Three Identification Clues

A slender grayish flycatcher with a peaked crown and two pale wingbars.

Long wings extend noticeably along the tail when folded.

A dusky vest contrasts with a paler throat and belly; little or no eyering.
