Habitat: Purple Meadow Rue prefers full sun to light shade with wet to mesic conditions and soil that is loamy, or slightly sandy or rocky. Look for Purple Meadow Rue in river-bottom prairies, savannas and thickets, woodland borders, openings in wooded areas, wooded ravines, floodplain woodlands, swamps, and edges of fens.
