Habitat: American Water Horehound prefers partial to full sunlight with wet to moist conditions and soil containing loam, silt, or clay. Look for American Water Horehound in wet prairies, prairie swales and sloughs, openings in floodplain and bottomland woodlands, soggy thickets, low areas along streams and ponds, fens, edges of marshes, and ditches along railroads and roadsides.
