Habitat: Early Buttercup prefers full sun to light shade with mesic to dry conditions and a rather poor soil containing sand or rocky material. Look for Early Buttercup in upland woodlands, thinly wooded bluffs, rocky savannas and sandy savannas, hill prairies, sand prairies, rocky glades, and pastures.
